Yahoo Messenger is one of the more popular instant messenger clients around. While it is often blamed for bloat and advertisements, it still has a large number of users.
Like Skype and Google Chrome, downloading the Yahoo Messenger file does not give you the entire program. It is only a small setup file that then downloads the full installer to install Yahoo Messenger. Luckily, much like the Skype offline installer, there is an offline, standalone installer for Yahoo Messenger.
Why use Yahoo Messenger 9 standalone (offline)
Yahoo had provided full setup files until recently. By using a web installer, they have introduced a potential roadblock for users. Yahoo Messenger offline installer would be most beneficial for users who want to install it on computers which are temporarily out of internet access, or use slow dialup connections.
