A growing trend among software companies is to offer a tiny (under 500 KB) installer that then downloads the full installer and proceeds with installation. Google Chrome, Skype, Yahoo Messenger etc. are some of the applications that do so. Joining them is the popular free antivirus tool AVG 2011.
The problems with such setup files that need an internet connection are many – you need internet on every computer you install it and you need to download it multiple times in case of installing on a group of systems. To worsen things, the latest version of AVG weighs in at a whopping 135 MB, which is bloated, to say the least.
However, offline installer files are available from Linked below are both the downloads for the full installers of the 32-bit and 64-bit edition of the antivirus software.
AVG for Windows Web Installer
AVG 2011 32-bit (135 Megabytes)
AVG 2011 64-bit (153 Megabytes)
